Mi chiamo Giulia Forti e sono una tatuatrice da oltre vent’anni.
Il mio viaggio nell’arte del tatuaggio è iniziato lontano dall’Italia, in Giappone, dove ho vissuto per diversi anni. Non ho frequentato scuole, perché lì non esistono corsi tradizionali: si impara solo diventando deshi, apprendista, di un maestro.
Io ho avuto il privilegio di studiare sotto la guida del Maestro Hiroshi Takamura, uno degli ultimi custodi dell’arte tradizionale irezumi. Il mio apprendistato è stato lungo, fatto di disciplina, rispetto e ore infinite passate a osservare, preparare gli strumenti e affinare la mano. Ho imparato la filosofia che sta dietro ogni segno: un tatuaggio non è solo estetica, è una storia che vive sulla pelle.
Con il Maestro ho studiato la tecnica del tebori, il tatuaggio a mano, e i simboli che popolano la tradizione giapponese: carpe koi, draghi, fiori di ciliegio, maschere oni. Ma col tempo ho sviluppato un mio linguaggio artistico, fondendo le radici dell’irezumi con il minimalismo e le linee pulite che amo oggi.
Quando sono tornata in Italia, ho voluto creare uno spazio dove queste due anime potessero convivere. Così è nato NeoInk: uno studio dove tradizione e innovazione si incontrano, e dove ogni progetto è pensato per essere unico, disegnato insieme alla persona che lo porterà per sempre.
Per me tatuare significa ascoltare, tradurre emozioni in forme e colori, e imprimere sul corpo qualcosa che non sbiadirà mai nella memoria.

My name is Giulia Forti and I have been a tattoo artist for over twenty years.
My journey into the art of tattooing began far from Italy, in Japan, where I lived for several years. I did not attend any schools, because traditional courses do not exist there: you only learn by becoming a deshi, an apprentice, to a master.
I had the privilege of studying under the guidance of Master Hiroshi Takamura, one of the last guardians of the traditional art of irezumi. My apprenticeship was long, consisting of discipline, respect and endless hours spent observing, preparing tools and refining my hand. I learned the philosophy behind every mark: a tattoo is not just aesthetic, it is a story that lives on the skin.
With the master, I studied the technique of tebori, hand tattooing, and the symbols that populate Japanese tradition: koi carp, dragons, cherry blossoms, oni masks. But over time, I developed my own artistic language, blending the roots of irezumi with the minimalism and clean lines that I love today.
When I returned to Italy, I wanted to create a space where these two souls could coexist. Thus, NeoInk was born: a studio where tradition and innovation meet, and where each project is designed to be unique, created together with the person who will carry it forever.
For me, tattooing means listening, translating emotions into shapes and colours, and imprinting something on the body that will never fade from memory.
